The Joy of Gardening - that's what this series of paintings is all about.  These paintings are timeless and connect generations of people together.  Working in the ground, nurturing seeds to bring forth food, developing patience, working, learning, and the satisfaction of a full harvest are a part of who we are - Garden Lovers!  

One summer I got together with a friend of mine to learn more about gardening.  When we got together to plant, weed, water, and harvest, she always wore a great yellow hat.  As soon as I saw her in it, I knew I had to paint this series.  So I took photos of her as we worked and they became my reference material.  I was experimenting with "color fields" and various color combinations.  I also enjoyed playing with loose brush strokes and drips and abstract painting underneath the vegetables/fruit.  You can see some of those layers peeking through if you look carefully.
